Impurity → Purity

Two metres of white sugar per second. One camera. No tolerance for the black grain.

In sugar manufacturing, purity is the product. This system watches the flow in real time — and removes the flaw without ever stopping the line.

Impurity Purity
02

The condition

One black grain in a white river.

Human inspection at production speed is a myth: the flow never stops, and the eye cannot certify what it cannot see.

Stopping the line to pick out impurities costs more than the impurity is worth — so for decades the compromise was shipped to the customer. This system ends the compromise.

The transformation

What the system actually does

The Black Particle Removal System from Sugar is an advanced solution designed to remove black impurities from sugar during the production process in sugar manufacturing plants. By utilizing image processing technology, precise suction mechanisms, and high-speed solenoid valves, the system accurately detects and separates contaminated sugar particles from the sugar flow without causing any delay or interruption to the production line.

It was developed based on a specific order from Cyberoxi LTD and is considered an innovative solution with significant potential in the food industry market. The start-up is currently working on the final stage of this product and on its international marketing and commercialization. All relevant agreements are available upon request.

  • A. Imaging and Contamination Detection — a high-speed Basler industrial camera with a high frame rate installed above the conveyor captures real-time images of the flowing sugar; high-intensity LED lighting maximizes contrast between black contaminated particles and white sugar granules.
  • B. Sugar Feeding and Distribution — refined sugar enters through a conveyor operating at 2 metres per second; a spreading and lump-breaking blade distributes granules uniformly to a thickness of less than 5 mm, so every grain faces the imaging system.
  • Embedded intelligence — no standalone UI: the application runs on the microprocessor controlling the cameras integrated into the robotic arm, activating or deactivating the suction pump from the detection results.
  • Beyond sugar — this product is the foundation for expanding into the food industry sector; ongoing market research identifies emerging needs and opportunities.

The real hardware

Eyes above the flow

For the technically curious

Under the hood

High-speed Basler camera

A high frame rate keeps the 2 m/s flow effectively frozen for the detector.

High-intensity LED lighting

Uniform illumination turns a subtle grey speck into an unmistakable black one.

< 5 mm uniform layer

A spreading, lump-breaking blade guarantees every grain is visible.

Computer vision on-chip

Detection runs on the microprocessor that controls the cameras in the robotic arm.

Solenoid valves + suction

High-speed valves fire in milliseconds — only the contaminated particle leaves.

Zero-line-stop removal

Purity without pauses: the flow never notices the correction.
